QUESTION: HAS ANYONE USED THESE TO FEED PUREES? IM WONDERING IF THE PUREES WILL LEAK OUT AND IF THESE ARE MEANT FOR SOLID PIECES OF FOOD OR FROZEN CUBES ONLY.

I have used these and my baby loves them. It will not hold pureed food. I do recommend solid food/fruits only. Fruit like strawberries and melon pieces work well, but banana gets messy after he's chewed on it.

Purees would leak out! These are made for use with solid/frozen slices of food. And BOTH of my grandsons (born only 3 days apart ~ 7 months ago) LOVE these! They get the flavor and nutrients from the food while it is cold and feels HEAVENLY on their gums! What I like so much is that the actual handle is at room temperature! (This is a vast improvement compared to what was available 25-30 years ago.)

I wouldn't recommend using them for pureed foods. I haven't tried myself, but they are mesh, so yes, I believe they would leak out and just make a big mess. If you're looking for something to help your baby feed purees to himself, try the various reusable squeezable pouches. I have the Squooshi brand pouches and I like them. Or go the old-fashioned route and spoon feed purees to your baby.

Frozen cubes work WONDERS especially if your lil one is teething...that's one way I used my feeders. I recently used them for purees ( such as chicken n sweet potatoes) for my 7 month old.

They can also be used to make fresh fruit popsicle s

I use this for slices of fruits like banana, watermelon, avocado, then I freeze it before giving it to my baby especially now that my baby is teething.

QUESTION: I CAN SEE SOME COLOR ON FEEDER ,IS THAT SAFE FOR EAT?

According to the company (which is located in California, where there are proposition 65 warnings and use of harmful chemicals is prohibited) all components are safe. This is a great little item!

I've never seen any color leaking onto food from the mesh, if that's your concern. I only use them with ice, now, and I've never noticed any staining or dripping of anything but clear water.

QUESTION: WHAT FOODS WORK WELL IN THESE FEEDING BAGS?

You can put anything in them. I used to put fresh apples, pears, oranges, frozen cubes of pureed foods such as squash and sweet potatoes; we even put ice chips in to help when she was teething. You can put just about any kind of fresh/frozen fruit or vegetable. Keep in mind these bags are very difficult to clean after a few weeks. I soaked them in hot water after every use and ran them through the dishwasher but food builds up in the seam. Even boiling them did not get it out. If you want to replace every couple weeks these are great, otherwise I would spend a little more for a silicone type.

Banana's are real good. Any soft food works. Very easy for the baby to hold and handle.

You have to decide what is acceptible. You have to watch wear and tear, but Ive not had a problem. My grandson loves:apple slices, banana pieces, orange slices, broken cookies, fruit chews. Messy as all can be, but he loves it.Never leave unattended.

My grandson likes: apple slices, banana pieces, orange slices, boiled potatoes, friut chews, cookies. Messy, never leave unattended. What for wear and tear, Ive never had a problem. Best creation, love it.

Tested MAINLY FRUITS ... GREAT!

Strawberries and Bananas were the ones that our Grandbaby liked the most. It also worked for carrots. Anything that is good for babies to eat but you are a little worried about them getting choked on it ... This is a GREAT idea!!!!!

QUESTION: WHAT AGES IS THIS FOR?

Age 6 months and up, when they can start eating real food. We usually stuff it with frozen banana or berries or frozen peas. The cold is good for teething.

It's up to your pediatrician but you can use it as early as 4mo. If one it both of the parents has or had food allergies it's suggested to wait until 6mo or later to start foods.

From 6 months ahead...

6 months up to a year

QUESTION: NO NEED REPLACEMENT OF NET?

no, the mesh is made from plastic, is durable.

No, the net is durable and the feeder is well made, won't ever need to replace the net. And it can be turned inside out for thorough cleaning. It is kind of a pain to clean though, because food gets trapped in it, but with lots of hot water and scrubbing I'm able to get it reasonably clean. I could see other moms having no patience for that, but since this feeder has been indispensable in transitioning my daughter to solid food, I have put up with it.

The net is durable, if you need to replace the net you would replace the whole thing. It does get really hard to clean, I use it for bananas often and it turns brown but I just soak it in hot water or throw it in the dishwasher and it cleans up

I agree - no need for net replacement. Baby teeth don't get through. Dishwasher cleanup is easiest

Nope. You just wash it (dishwasher is fine) and reuse it!

I've had mine for almost 3 years and it still looks in great condition. After every use I wash it very well with soapy water and let it dry out very well. It hasn't broke or gotten any mold.

QUESTION: WHAT DOES "1 PACK" MEAN? IS THAT 1 PACK SET, WHICH MEANS 2 FEEDERS? IF SO, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A "1 PACK" VS. "2 COUNT"?

I'm not sure, I bought the two pack! It was easier to have two than one at times! And from the descriptions I'd say it's just different wording, they all seem to come with two!

Hello. Each package comes with two feeders.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE SIZE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS MUNCHKIN FRESH FOOD FEEDER AND THE DELUXE MUNCHKIN FOOD FEEDER? OVERALL SIZE? MESH SIZE? ETC.?

I never purchased the deluxe, but I do have another type that is very similar. To me the only difference in the deluxe style comes with an attachable cover unlike the other! Size of mesh is the same! I put frozen fruit ice cubes I my daughters, she loved it! The deluxe would of been pointless! Hope you find this useful!

Sorry I don't have any knowledge of the deluxe feeder. These are about 2-3 inches long by 1-2 inches wide.

I can't compare it to any other ones as this is the only one we have tried & really liked it. Our grandson can grip the handle himself & can get the perfect amount of juice out for a 6 month old. It's great for teething when I put a frozen strawberry or mango in. Wish I had a better answer for you.

QUESTION: ARE THEY BPA, LEAD AND PHTHALATES FREE?

The item in question is free of Phthalate, BPA, Latex, PVC, Nitrosamine. We hope this information helped you.

Per manufacturer site, they are Phthalate-free, BPA Free. I can't imagine why they would contain lead. I hope this helps answer your question. Have a great day!

The Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder does not contain PVC with phthalates.

QUESTION: CAN I REMOVE THE MESH BAG TO CLEAN IT?

Hello. No, it is ONE PIECE for safety.

No

No, it can not , but it cleans easy and is dishwasher safe.

No, it is not removable. However a lot of people say they have a hard time cleaning it. I didn't have this problem at all. If you remove all chunks of food immediately, and I first soak it in a glass full of soapy water, It is easy to clean. I'm a neat freak, and I'm extremely happy with it. My son loves it!!!

No, the hardest thing I've had to clean out of it was a banana. It was almost near impossible to get it completely clean.

When I did I couldn't put it back. i think the best way is to put the whole thing in a hot water

Not for this brand.

No, it's attached to the lower part, which hinges from the upper (ring) part. Over all, these are possible to clean, but kind of a bother.

QUESTION: IS THERE A COVER FOR THESE FEEDERS?

I don't remember it coming with one.

No

no there is not. When I use them for my grandchild and if there is food left in it I just put it in a baggy and freeze it for later.

No they don't have a cover. I just keep mine with the rest of his bottles. In the bottle rack.

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE USED TO FEED PUREES? MY 8 MO OLD LIKES FINGER FOOD & REJECTS THE SPOON, SO LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO FEED BABY CEREAL & PUREES WITH. THX.

This isn't for purée its to keep all solid food in so baby doesn't choke

I think the mesh holes may be too big for purées

I am sure it could be used for this. I think it may be really messy though.

I wouldn't try it- the puree will go right through the mesh. Chunky purees would work better. I use them for watermelon and other soft solids. Hope that helps :)

i think it can, but not good for. not recommend.

QUESTION: WHERE IS THIS ITEM MADE?

I dont know but they are the BEST little devices for keeping teething babies happy.

I do not know where it was made, but I will say this. Whatever you put in them becomes a mush and very messy. Baby would not/could not eat. We threw them away.

QUESTION: HOW TO YOU OPEN THE FEEDERS? I'M HAVING A PROBLEM.

Pinch the clips together on the middle/side and pull open.

You need to squeeze the bottom of the locking. It get easier as you get used to it.

Squeeze the 2 posts on the underside together and push up to unlock

You pinch the two little plastic notches on the side. When they squeeze togetherrrrr there's room for them to slide through the slot and open the feeder. It was REALLY hard for me to open the first couple of times (I even had to use pliers to open one of them), but after a couple times they got a lot easier to open.

QUESTION: GREEN BEANS

You can put anything in them and they squeeze it a and suck it. Not sure if green beans would be very good. I use avacodo, watermelon, and bananas in it mainly. You could try.

better for tasty fruit foods, who wants to eat string bean pulp and juice, yuk

QUESTION: ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO CLEAN THEM? THEY WORK GREAT, BUT IT TAKES FOREVER TO CLEAN.

I bought a tooth brush just for it but I end up giving up. Too much work.

We run them in the dishwasher. Works OK, not great.

I found it best to soak them in hot water (submerge them) and then place in dishwasher. Comes out clean and safe for babies next munchie time.

I use the bottle brush to clean ours.

I would wash them with dish soap and rinse in very hot water, let them air dry. If you are worried about bacteria, boil water and dip the cloth end in to sterilize.

QUESTION: CAN YOU REPLACE THE MESH LIKE WITH THE NUBY BRAND?

No I don't believe you can. I usually wash mine it hot water really well and air dry.

Not that I know of. I don't see how you could get the mesh off anyway.

I doubt it. It's not removable.

#Munchkin_Fresh_Review

QUESTION: WHAT MATERIAL ARE THE MESH BAGS MADE OF? IS IT SILICONE?

Hard to say. It's not a plastic but it's also not a cotton. Very durable! Slightly difficult to clean but I guess that's a good thing so no big chunks pass through. I recommend buying like 5 sets because you will use them and will need many when the others are dirty.

if i am correct it is polyester.

I believe it's polyester and they are VERY difficult to clean. Food debris gets caught in the hem. Even after boiling them it still doesn't get clean. I would recommend the Kidsme silicone feeder

QUESTION: HOW MANY FEEDERS IN THE 1PACK SET? OR HOW MANY YOU GET FOR $7.99?

I received 2 feeders for 7.99.

There are 2 in the pack

Thank you for asking this- the wording is very confusing!
